Ports: Belize City, Roatan, Cozumel
Pros:
Cabin bathroom was a nice size. Room was ice cold.
Great location – cabin 7220. Very convenient and not noisy despite being right next to the atrium.
I found plenty of seating in the buffet at all times of day. While I liked the larger tables if we were playing cards during down times, they’re not great when looking for seats to eat. There are just too many of them and parties of two get forced to use them, forcing you to ask people if you can share a table.
We mainly ate at the buffet and though it had limited selections, I enjoyed what they offered. I like the build your own fries and nachos stations. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet too, for the most part. We loved Cheeseburger in Paradise and the day time pizza. The late night “square” pizza was often soggy and gross. I wish they served the nicer pizza all night.
We loved the entertainment. Lots of Name That Tune and trivia, plus karaoke nightly. They even have a karaoke competition. The shows were pretty good, and we loved the Entertainment Director ZeeJay, an Aussie who lives in Vegas. We also really enjoyed Cayo (sp?) who hosted most of the Name That Tune. We wished he hosted karaoke more.
Cons:
No app!
Took multiple phone calls to get a fridge in the room. Safe didn’t work 😔
The bunk bed was hard to get down from for an adult. The ladder was not very sturdy and moved around, plus the safety rail needs some more welding.
Male DJ in the nightclub was not good, except for clearing the danclefloor.
They need the larger water/ice machines at all beverage stations. The little Scotsman ones are not sufficient for cruises and were often broken.
The main dining room was hit or miss, but the lines to get in definitely pushed us to the buffet more often. On two occasions, we waited for one dining room, and then came to find out that there was space in the other dining room. They should have let us know that to speed up the process and cut down on wait times.
Cheeseburger in Paradise needs to be open longer hours. Closing at 6 is not good, as these burgers were some of the best food on the ship.
Service at the bars was almost rude. I was passed by regularly, and servers usually would serve the men first, even if I was there much earlier than them. The exception was the Far Side lounge. I didn’t have a drink package either, so it definitely led to me drinking much less.
I also found that servers in the casino were few and far between. I play slots on most cruises, and I played for hours throughout this cruise. I only saw servers in my sections twice, and I had to flag them down before they walked away. For all the money I lost, two drinks was not sufficient.
I found these to be the tightest slots on any cruise line, and I’ve sailed 7 other lines. There is no way I’d ever get free cruises on this ship based on play/points – it’s cheaper just to buy the cruise 🤷
Summary:
Out of the discount lines (MSC, Carnival), this was my favorite line. I felt it was very relaxed, and I liked the food choices (lots of American bar food selections on the buffet).
It was a laid back vibe, and the clientele mostly fit that vibe, too. No one was obnoxiously loud or rude, like I’ve found to be common on the other discount lines.
They are launching another ship in 2027, and I will likely try to sail them again then. I just wish they sailed to more areas. I’ve done most of the Caribbean, and don’t like to repeat ports, so sadly I won’t be sailing them much until they add other destinations. I’m excited to see them expand more in the coming years.
